As a professor at Université Libre de Bruxelles since 1999, my academic journey has been dedicated to research. My focus spans business intelligence, mobility, and my special interest, spatio-temporal databases. Implementing innovative ideas is my driving force, and I'm the founding member of the MobilityDB research project, an open source moving object database.
My doctorate in Computer Science, 4 published books, and 180+ research works underscore my commitment to advancing technology for all.

Originally from Egypt and holding a PhD from Germany, I have been based at ULB since 2015. As a founding member of the MobilityDB project and Chair of the OGC's Moving Features Standards Working Group, I actively shape data management standards. My 40+ research contributions span theory advancement and practical applications.
